Ingredients
1 celery stick per person
peanut butter
raisins
Spread peanut butter on celery sticks. Dot the peanut butter with raisins.
Ingredients:
eggs (1 or 2 per person)
salt, pepper, bread, margarine (optional)
Pierce small end of eggs with a pin. Place eggs in hot ashes with small end up. Bake for 10 to 20 minutes. If desired, serve hot on buttered toast and season with salt and pepper.
You'll need:
Aluminum foil
Canned peach halves
Cinnamon
Marshmallows
Place a peach half on a square of aluminum foil. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Put a marshmallow in the hollow and fold the foil shut. Bake in the coals of a fire.
Note: this is good without the marshmallows too.
Ingredients

- spray vegetable oil
- aluminum foil
- long tongs
Spray oil on each potato. Wrap each potato with foil. Wrap each potato with another layer of foil. Place potatoes directly into hot fire. Turn potatoes very frequently with tongs. Cook for 30 minutes.
Variations: core potato prior to cooking and insert a Vienna Sausage, slice of onion or cheese.
You will need:
banana
mini marshmallows
chocolate chips

Leave the peel on the banana and slice it lengthwise through the top peel and banana, but leaving the bottom peel intact so as to form a pocket. Fill opening with chocolate and marshmallows. Squeeze together lightly and wrap in aluminum foil, making sure you know keep the cut facing upwards. Place into hot coals of a fire for several minutes so that the marshmallow and chocolate melts. Open the foil and eat the treat with a spoon. Be careful: will be hot!
Ingredients (quantities may be off - use your best guess):
6 hot dogs buns, split
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 tablespoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons white sugar
Mix cinnamon and sugar. Dip half of hot dog bun quickly into the melted butter/margarine than sprinkle with cinnamon sugar (could also roll in the cinnamon sugar). Roast over fire.
Ingredients
2 medium potatoes
3 tablespoons margarine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 lb American cheese
1/2 small onion
1 small can evaporated milk
dash of pepper
10 inch foil pan
foil
solid shortening
Grease disposable 10 inch foil pan. Peel and thinly slice potatoes. Place layers of potatoes, cubed cheese, and onions in pan. Pour milk over all. Seal with square of greased foil. Place over hot coals for about 1 hour.
Ingredients
4-5 small flour or corn tortillas
1 small onion
1 6-ounce can of chicken
4 ounces Monterey Jack cheese

Dice the onion. Thinly slice the cheese. Drain the canned chicken. Sprinkle cheese, onion, and chicken on half of an open-faced tortilla. Fold tortilla in half. Wrap in foil. Place in hot coals for 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
Ingredients
1 dozen glazed doughnuts
1 dozen marshmallows

Put doughnut on a skewer. Then put marshmallow on the end of the skewer. Toast over fire.
Ingredients
1/2 cup mayonnaise (can use packets)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
4 large pita breads, halved
8 lettuce leaves
16 slices bologna
8 slices fully cooked ham
16 thin slices of tomato
Combine mayonnaise and mustard. Spread about 1 tablespoon into each pita half Stuff each pita half with a leaf of lettuce, two slices of bologna, one slice of ham, and two slices of tomato
Mix together the following (add/omit whatever you like):
1/2 cup roasted or boiled peanuts (make sure that no one has a peanut allergy)
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped dried fruit
1 cup pretzels
2 cups unsugared dry cereal, such as Cheerios, Kix or Chex (not flakes)
Ingredients
1-2 packages Ramen (oriental noodle soup)
1/2 cup dried peas
parmesan cheese
1 5 ounce can of ham
red pepper flakes (optional)
Cook the Ramen noodles (with or without flavor pack) along with the dried peas. Drain cooked noodles. Top with ham. Add parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes to taste.
Variations: add other vegetables, such as mushrooms and green onions.
Ingredients
1 tbsp popcorn kernels
18" x 18" square of heavy or doubled foil
1 tsp oil
butter and salt if desired for seasoning
In the square of foil, add popcorn kernels and oil together. Bring foil corners together to make a pouch. Seal the edges by folding, but allow room for the popcorn to pop. Tie each pouch to the end of a skewer. Hold the pouch over hot coals. Shake constantly until all the corn has popped. Season as desired with butter and salt.
If you have more than a couple of girls this is just as easy to make as the packets, and tastes a whole lot better. A good way to get them to drink milk too!
For ½ gallon:
½ cup + 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 cup sugar
dash salt
The above 3 ingredients can be mixed together ahead of time. Stir in:
2/3 cup water.
Stir over heat until well mixed. Boil 2 minutes. Add:
2 quarts milk
Heat until warm. Add:
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla.
You will need:
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon flavoring
1/2 cup rock salt
1 pint-sized zip-type plastic bag
1 gallon-size zip-type plastic bag

Fill the large bag half full of ice. Add the salt. Seal the bag and put aside. Put milk, vanilla and sugar into the small bag a seal. Place the small bag inside the large and bad and reseal the large bag. Shake until the mixture turns into ice cream - about 5 minutes, longer if outside and it is a hot day. Remove the small bag, wipe it off and enjoy!
Ingredients

an individual bag of Doritos per person
shredded cheese
Cook up a pot of chili. Cut an X across the front of each bag of Doritos and fold back. Put chili on top of chips. Top with cheese.
You'll need:
4 squares semisweet chocolate
1 small can of condensed milk
1 lb box of vanilla wafers
wax paper
Melt the chocolate.
Add milk.
Heat and stir until smooth.
Crumble vanilla wafers.
Add to chocolate/milk mixture.
Mix well.
Drop on wax paper.
Let harden.
You'll need:
2 cups oatmeal (instant)
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup favorite mixed, chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
3/4 cup powdered milk
water
zip-lock bag
Mix all dry ingredients in a zip-lock bag before hitting the trail. When it's time for breakfast, pour boiling water over a bowl of your Oatmeal Surprise and cover. Wait approximately two minutes.
Ingredients:
flat milk chocolate bars
marshmallows (regular size - not minis)
graham crackers
Roast a marshmallow over a fire. While it is still hot and gooey, push it onto a graham cracker. Cover with a piece of chocolate and top with a second graham cracker. Squish together and eat. It's so good we're sure that you'll want s'more!
Ingredients:
6 oz chocolate chips
6 oz butterscotch chips
1 large can chow mein noodles
Melt the chips using the sun by putting them in a dark or black pan. When they are almost melted, stir them until the melting is almost complete. Add the noodles and mix well. Use a teaspoon and drop spoonfuls onto a sheet of waxed paper. Eat when cool. Makes approximately 30 pieces.
You'll need:
1 box of biscuit mix
milk or water
honey
long skewer
Follow the directions on the biscuit box using a little less liquid than called for. Twist the dough around the end of a skewer. Cook by holding over fire. Dip into honey and enjoy.
