Troop 955: Ames Public Library Service Project
January 2009

Before the holidays, our troop decided to do some community service projects.  The girls brainstormed to come up with project ideas and identify local groups that might need assistance, then they contacted local organizations to ask about volunteer opportunities for our troop.

On Jan. 3 we did our first project at the Ames Public Library, and several troop parents came along to help with quality control.  The project was putting Library stickers on the free books children earn through the library's reading program, and on the free books that are distributed to newborn babies at Mary Greeley Hospital.

We had a lot of fun and, over the course of two hours, put stickers on hundreds of books - that's a LOT of babies and book readers!  After all that hard work, we took a walk to Great Plains for pizza – yum!
