Troops 28 and 150 make Root Beer for the 2010 Bridging Ceremony

Troops 28 and 150 decided to make something special for the Bridging Ceremony this year: ROOT BEER!

With a little help from our local brewmaster, the girls learned how much sugar is REALLY in a soda pop and that when you make a mess when making root beer, it's a really sticky mess. While there are many different ways of brewing root beer and more than enough recipes, we found one that suited our needs and equipment. It is important to write down your recipe and what you do to ensure that if it is a fabulous batch, you can recreate it again! Thus the Bridging Root Beer was added to the brewmaster's book. When the root beer is first mixed and kegged, it is not carbonated. The process of pumping in the carbon dioxide can take a few days. Nonetheless, the root beer brew crew had to taste a sample of their creation at the beginning. It tasted like flat root beer (not so tasty). By the day of the Bridging Ceremony it was fully carbonated and everyone enjoyed tasty root beer floats!

YUM!
