Troop 955: Sailing at Big Creek State Park (2009)
Troop 955 is at it again. Here are a few pictures of them at Big Creek learning about sailing (and earning their small water craft badge). Following an on-land introductory program, the girls (and a few mothers!) climbed on Hobie catamarans and skimmed the water’s surface with certified US SAILING Instructors (provided by the Saylorville Yacht Club Sailing School) at the helm.
On their first time out the girls went pretty slow, but by the end of the evening they were controlling the speed of the boats and not a single one of them wanted to go slow! This made for an exciting ride as the boats dashed across the lake with windward pontoons rising out of the water!
