Safety Wise Coordinator:

The Safety Wise Coordinator is available to answer your Safety Wise questions and help you plan events that conform to the Girl Scout safety requirements.

When planning any activity away from your regular meeting place, remember that you will need to have signed permission slips from each girl's parent or legal guardian.

When planning any activity - at a regular troop meeting or otherwise - ensure that it passes the 3 levels of checkpoints as laid out in the Girl Scout Safety Wise manual. These are universal checks ("standards"), category checks, and specific activity checks.

For example, if you are planning on going ice skating, make sure that you will be following all standards (page 62), the Land Sport checkpoints (Chapter 9, page 94) and the ice skating checks listed on page 104.

Ames-Gilbert Service Unit Supplies

The Ames-Gilbert Service Unit has a stockpile of books and supplies that can be borrowed, and in some cases, kept by local troops. Look over the supply list and see if there is material that your troop could use.
